  • Hello Farmly,

It's the most wonderful time of the year - CSA SUMMER SEASON IS UPON US!

If you are new to our CSA Shares - please read through and take note of the dates & times & policies, and if you are a returning member, keep a look out for updates!

Here’s a recap of how Good Rain's CSA works:

Summer CSA Season runs from Mid/Late June - Early October*

*All dates are projections, Actual End date may vary, Farmers offer no guarantees*

Pick-up days are THURSDAYS from 3-6pm

Pick Up Site Locations linked here, please scroll down to view.

How to CSA - Picking Up Your Share:

Once our first 3pm Thursday delivery rolls around you can pick up your share box at your drop site of choice. We highly recommend that you review your order before heading out to grab your share: Some members have a produce share ONLY while other members may have Add-Ons to pick up as well. Because our sites are self serve, there won't always be someone on hand to direct you about your order. You can find all of your order details on your original emailed receipt. That email originates from  <no-reply@squarespace.info> .

When you arrive at your Pick Up site, please mask up and sanitize your hands before touching the tubs - there may be a spray bottle of hand Sani near/on top of the share boxes however they do get lost and misplaced.

Alert! Standard and Small shares look different! Small Shares have an S painted on the sides are tan in color where as Standard shares come in larger Gray tub. All tubs are labeled with " GRF " spray-painted in pink.

You are welcome to take the entire tub with you, or transfer your produce into your own bag and leave empty tub in the open position, next to the stack of shares. If you take the tub, you are responsible for returning the tub the following week - thank you for taking care of our equipment, it helps keep costs down!

When grabbing shares: take the top most tub of a stack, vs pulling from middle or bottom. The shares are all IDENTICAL and the less you touch the tubs the less potential transmission of germs.

     ADD-ON's

    Add-ons include Coffee and Bread.

For members who ordered Add-Ons you will find your goodies in a separate container next to the share stack. Typically a Red Cooler.

Once the season starts you will get a weekly email with a share cast (labeled picture of your week's produce) and recipe/meal plan suggestions as well as a little Behind The Scenes gossip from around the farm.

  • You can split a share 9 ways to Sunday, we do not mind. We do require that a single payer act as primary point of contact and we ask that you manage the coordination and facilitation of the sharing/splitting of your box each week. Please do list your share-mates so we can keep them in the loop via our emailed newsletter: that has all the useful bits and bops that pertain to the share, and we want everyone eating the share to have access to that info. You can include the additional emails in the Notes section of the CSA sign up, or email us with the primary member’s name and email address as well as the shared household email addresses.

  • We do not have the ability to provide customized boxes, nor do we have the capacity to keep potential food family groups separate in the share boxes however we do offer information and pictures for reference each week, regarding what’s in your share box. If you have specific questions or need help identifying a particular allergen, please do reach out to us, but ultimately it is up to members to assess the safety of their food choices for their own personal diet. We encourage members to share what they can’t eat with friends, neighbors, and nearby free fridges/shared pantries.

  • The best way is to bring us a sandwich, to be honest! We created a Meal Train for a weekly Meal for the crew. You can participate financially by donating, or act as a delivery driver to grab take out and bring it to the farm, or you can whip up your own homemade lunch and bring it to us. It may not seem like “farming” exactly, but trust us - you’ll be the Employee of the Month, at least in our hearts for your act of kindness. Click Here to Learn More about the Farm Lunch Table

  • CSA’s are an opportunity for our community to experience the ups and downs of Farming in the region in which they reside in. There are Risks involved and your Farmer behaves as prudent and responsible as they can in the face of these difficulties. CSA’s are traditionally a method of direct farmer support, members benefiting from bounty and diversity as well as sharing in the inherent risks of farming. Refunds impose undue hardship on your Farmers who have already put in time and money on your behalf in growing the food you had purchased. However we understand complications arise for our members as well. A Member may cancel their Full Share upon written notice to Good Rain Farm 4 weeks prior to the beginning of the Members first CSA share delivery. Members will be assessed a $20 cancellation fee to cover administrative costs. ALL SALES ARE FINAL thereafter. To avoid any fee assessed it’s highly encouraged that members wishing to withdraw from the CSA find a replacement member who can take over the share. Please email GoodRainFarm@Gmail.com introducing us to the new member so that we can properly update our back end data and logistics documents to ensure the new member is receiving E-Newsletter updates and their share. Thank you for your support and understanding.

  • YES. Please manage your special sharing arrangement for yourselves, is all we ask- thanks!

  • Shares are available for Pick-Up from all Drop Sites from 3pm-6pm on Thursdays. This is true for Spring and Summer Shares.

  • We partner with local businesses to offer pick up sites across Portland as well as Camas and Vancouver. You can learn more about all our pick up sites here.

  • Absolutely, Add-ons can be purchased separately. Make sure to choose the same pick up location as your existing veggie share.

  • Yes! We now offer all add-ons across all the seasons with one exception specific to COFFEE Add-Ons: given the short duration of the Spring and Fall Shoulder seasons we do not offer bi-weekly options during those seasons as a stand alone option, though you can still choose a biweekly full-season option that includes Spring and Fall.

  • Yes! Add-ons are a great way to support local producers and farmers and supplement your own garden’s growth or farmer’s market hauls.

  • YES. Simply change your quantity to the desired amount. The amount/volumes vary from add-on to add-on, be sure to read the shop descriptions to make sure you've ordered enough of the goodies you love.

  • YES. Use code DEPOSIT20% at check out and we will follow up with your payment installment plan instructions.

  • Members can pick up their share between 3pm-6pm on Thursdays and we ask that site hosts allow for a “grace hour” until 7pm before they donate any share as abandoned. So we ask our members to arrive within the 3-6pm window, and we built in a “late arrival” policy that does not require you to communicate with farm management. If you miss your pick up window, please rest easy that the food did not go to waste- we donate all unused food from the farm.

  • We wish we could answer every email, text, and call but we cannot handle the inbox surges in real time at peak season. We try our absolute best to respond to urgent issues as soon as possible, but we also ask that our members set realistic expectations regarding communication and time management for our staff. The best way to love on us is on social media (and oh the options you have! Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok @goodrainfarm) and the best way to report a concern is through our Reporting Form, where you can stay anonymous if you like and we can best track and respond to issues as they come up.

  • We grow a diverse bunch of plants and we err on the side of more variety than quantity. This means that sometimes we have “incomplete” quantities of one type of product and when that happens we tend to offer it to a smaller subset of our CSA membership. Sometimes this means a Small and Standard Box don’t match exactly, and we let you know that in advance in our weekly newsletter.

  • Decades of wasteful agriculture practices have led us, as consumers, to expect perfect produce at the store, at the market, and from a farm. In reality no farm ONLY produces perfect produce and in fact much of the food waste and environmental harm in Big Ag comes from this insidious quest for perfect produce. By subscribing to a small farm’s CSA program, you are agreeing to take a stand against food waste by accepting imperfect produce- veggies that might have a bug bite, a different coloration, or misshapen from the ideal form. This is absolutely wholesome, edible, nutritious produce and it is not of the optically perfect variety. At Good Rain Farm we take every effort to prevent food waste, and we thank our members for riding with us on this path.

  • Truth be told, we are stretching the limits of our website’s capabilities in our payment pathway offerings. This means that we cannot refine some of the more nuanced aspects of signing up for CSA membership with your SNAP benefits. The good news is that we default every snap member to the greatest discount (aka provide you the cheapest and most abundant food option) regardless of what options you choose in our complicated system that was never intended to be used in this manner. We are in the midst of becoming an EBT payment processor ourselves with OR and WA, but in the meantime we rely heavily on clunky point of sale platforms and are grateful that 3rd party non-profit organizations have stepped in to solve our SNAP payment issues in the interim. A final note: EBT benefits come in many shapes and sizes - if you have “cash” benefits we can process your payments directly, but we cannot offer Double Up Food Bucks incentives/discounts with cash benefit category. Email Domenika with subject line: SNAP at goodrainfarm@gmail.com with any and all SNAP questions if you get stuck.

  • YES! All our add-ons are SNAP eligible. Use code SNAPCSA at check out, and we will follow up with SNAP payment processing instructions.

  • Not Yet, but hopefully soon! Sign up for the newsletter above to stay up on the newest Rabbit happenings.

  • Yes, later in Summer we should have a small amount of meat available for purchase. Stay informed with our newsletter:
