SNAP: Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program

img_20190315_102630_700-1We are proud to accept SNAP & DUFB as payment! We believe good, fresh, healthy and transparent food is for all! Your farmer is busy farming so the Portland Area CSA Coalition has put in the time and effort and employees the staff person who supports your small, local farmers process SNAP. Thanks to PACSAC’s hard work, easy to follow instruction packet and online trainings I am able to support this payment platform and those in our community who utilize this helpful service.

To learn more about the Double Up Food Bucks head on over to the info page hosted by PACSAC HERE.

Good Rain Farm is able to process the full amount of up to $200 matching funds for all our share and add-on options. Get to saving and stretching those dollars with us!

How does this work?

Please, fill out the CSA Membership Form as normal. There is a question in there that indicates to me if you are using SNAP to pay for your CSA. That will prompt me to reach out to you with a 2nd form needed to complete our transaction. Learn more about our CSA offerings HERE.

There is an initial $50 withdrawal from your SNAP account that occurs on the day you receive your SNAP benefits (That will be indicated in the 2nd form sent to you). Then for every month after until the total CSA payment is reached an automatic payment withdrawal will occur, again on the day you receive your benefits. PACSAC chose to do it the day of to help insure that folks don’t over spend their SNAP before the farmer is ‘payed’. The monthly dollar amount varies depending on the cost of the share and any add-ons you choose to purchase.

You purchase a $500 Standard Share on March 15th. You pay $50 at your initial sign up. Say your benefits arrive on the 4th day of the month.

$500-$50= $450

Our shares run for 5 months/20 weeks.  $450/5= $90

On April 4th $90 is automatically withdrawn from your account. You are free to spend the remainder of your SNAP on any food items that you won’t be receiving in the next four weeks from your CSA Farm.

In August you would be fully paid for the CSA which continues until October! No other charges will occur unless you choose to purchase additional offerings or bulk items from the Farm when picking up your CSA.
